"Where is Bulgaria, is that in Africa?”
If you've ever asked this question, then this show is for you.
Bulgarians 101 is a mixed-media solo performance show about the experiences and struggles of a Bulgarian immigrant - Alex. Alex came to the UK on a quest to become an elite actress. However, because of the unsteady image some people have of Eastern Europe, she has persistently been trying to become "more British" until one day... her babushka arrived.
Bulgarians 101 looks at the identity struggle that many immigrants experience. Written, devised and performed by myself (an actual Bulgarian immigrant) the show aims to subvert multiple stereotypes about Bulgarians and showcase the true Bulgarian spirit. Bulgaria, being one of the oldest countries in Europe has a lot more than Sunny Beach to offer you - rich history, culture and nature.
Bulgarians 101 is ultimately about embracing who you are and where you come from, because at the end of the day one can only choose how to respond to an unchangeable fact. Filled with laughter, dance, music, puppetry, and the deal-breaker FOOD, Bulgarians 101 is the show of the summer. Don't miss out!
